Surf Shack LP30on Bath CoutureMichelle Bland painted a Surf Shack with someone's name on it as a private commission and Hazle suggested one for the Collectors' Day. The Queen's Rat Catcher LP30on Melton MowbrayWhen colourful painter Iona Driver knew Michelle was doing the Surf Shack, she decided to explore her "dark side" instead! Iona's husband, an expert on Victorian London, suggested the theme - which caused a stir at the event. One lady bought it as a friend's father was once a rat catcher in nearby Chatham Docks. The added dog, rat cages and sprats' sign are all hand-modelled by Iona - and with Hazle wondering if they can keep up production - buy now if you want it! SOLD OUT. Click for special feature.

Buttons & Bowson Pateley Bridge 1Painted by Doreen and based on two old London shops: The Button Queen, now in Marylebone Lane W1, and the former Ells & Farrier (taken over by Creative Beadcraft in Beak Street W1). The buttons are copied from Doreen’s own collection. Although not a formal collector, over the years she has gathered some interesting and unusual ones, mostly as single buttons rather than sets.

J & S Hill Cigarson Canterbury BurgateInvolved with the East of London Family History Society, Carol discovered Jewish kin including these famous 19th century cigar makers in Whitechapel. Male and female workers sat in rows in separate rooms. A cigar took a few seconds to make with fragments of tobacco leaf rolled up in a narrow strip of leaf, twisted at one end.

This year the Italian restaurant chain Prezzo had some personalised ceramics made for them. Former fashion illustrator Chris McAllister, Hazle Chief Paintress plus people painter from 1992-2003, came out of retirement to design and paint each and every main window. Hazle regards anything done by her as highly collectable.
Along with ceramics from the standard range, the Prezzo pieces will be set into walls of some of the latest restaurants. So far we have heard that Chelmsford in Essex is a candidate. Prezzo is a "cool" brand frequented by professionals. On seeing the displays they will hopefully be inspired to collect. This is another unique part of Hazle history.
Most designs have been limited to 30 pieces. Those going to Prezzo were counted but unnumbered. Hazle has chosen her favourites and numbered the few left in each style to offer to collectors. It is rare for "corporate ceramics" to come on to the open market.
